We had a fun, hard-working, yet relaxing weekend at my mom's house on the St. John's River. Her river cottage is located on a little slice of land heaven in East Palatka where the views never seem to disappoint.
We arrived Friday night to a delicious dinner of Porcupine Meatballs (my favorite) and some down time we used to relax and gear up for a shopping spree that happened on Saturday...more on that in a few.
We woke up to the 62 Annual Mug Race hosted by the Rudder Club of Jacksonville and with sunny 60 degree weather, I can't imagine a better, more beautiful scenario. It was so fun to watch all of the sailboats right in front of the house. Gorgeous.
Later that morning my mom, Aunt Janie, Everett and I headed to St. Augustine to literally go on a (paid for) shopping spree. A few weeks back my mom filled out a survey after a Pier One shopping experience and ended up winning a $500 gift card! She was SO STOKED and couldn't wait to shop, shop, shop!
She was looking for new outdoor porch cushions and ended up hitting the jackpot. Not only did she have the gigantic gift card, all of the outdoor furniture and accessories were 15% off. It was SO.MUCH.FUN.
Everett and our new little nugget even got a few items :). He loves his new "Wisco" the cow, see above. There are still two more pillows on order, but look below to see the (almost) finished product. It looks fabulous and she is so happy.
After that we headed to Hobby Lobby for even more nursery/toddler room shopping and were exhausted when we got home. Everett was a champ and definitely has my shopping blood and not his daddy's...thank goodness!
The rest of Saturday was spent running around, relaxing and eating. Our favorite combinations.
Sunday morning, as an early Mother's Day present to my mom, we all headed to St. Mark's Episcopal Church for the early service. My mom attended this church as a child, got married there and since returning to East Palatka a few years back, is a parishioner again. It is such a cute little church and has so much nostalgia for our family.
Everett was sooooo well behaved (yay!) and we made it out of the hour long service only having to feed him just a few snacks. Whew.
We spent the rest of Sunday helping out around Gransie's house; cleaning out the attic, planting trees, and watching boats on the river among other things (like napping).
After nap snuggles are the best.
This week is all about cleaning out and organizing! We are cleaning out closets, making room for all kinds of girl things and trying to downsize before we upsize if you catch my drift. It's a lot to do, but really right up my ally since I love to see the results.
Here's what's on tap as far as food goes...
M: Black Bean Burgers with Sauteed Mushrooms and Sweet Potato Fries
T: Taco Salad
W: Chicken and Wild Rice Soup
Th: Spinach and Pesto Lasagna Roll-Ups
F: Egg Salad Sandwiches w/ Chips and Fruit
Sa: Kielbasa Paella
Su: Mother's Day!
Have a great week!
