Our Sunday has been quite a lazy one, but we did venture out a bit earlier to try out a new (to us) bike trail.
Our usual biking expeditions (besides our bar crawls) consist of routes around our house or the West Orange Trail, but today we headed to the Seminole Wekiva Trail and were very impressed.
What’s funny is that I have passed the trailhead entrance about a billion times and never knew it led to such a beautiful and scenic ride.
We started out in Altamonte Springs at the San Sebastian trailhead and biked about 8 miles, through Longwood and ended up near Lake Mary.
He’s such a show-off. Look ma, no hands!
One of the coolest parts was the underground “tunnel” pass-through which took us under the busy state road 434. It’s so nice to go on these trails and not have to deal with traffic!
We even got lucky with the weather – no rain and cloud cover. Awesome!
The best part? I got to use my bike speakers. I wrote about them in this post and Mike surprised me with them a few weeks ago. They are perfect for biking and even have room to store a few odds and ends as well.
What I love most about them is that you can listen to music, but still talk to you partner as well instead of having headphones in the whole ride. Mike enjoyed jamming out, too!
All in all, a great ride, beautiful trail and a perfect mid-day ride. We rode a little over 16 miles and can’t wait to do it again.
Next time might even entail stopping for breakfast halfway – we saw some pretty cute restaurants with plenty of bike parking! Score!
