As our weekend highlights listed below will show, you can tell we had a wild and crazy weekend…not! It was a lazy couple of days that were much deserved and needed.
Here are our top three shining moments:
#1: 16 miles!
Since last weekend’s 14 mile run, every weekend until the marathon (April 28) marks another personal milestone. Until this training, the most I had ever run was 13.1 miles, when we completed the Charlotte Racefest Half-Marathon in Aril 2010, and we only did that distance one time.
Marathon training is a whole different ball game. Yesterday, as we were running, Mike and I were discussing how we were essentially running more than a half marathon 6 weekends in a row. It’s just absolutely crazy when you think about it, that’s why it’s better not to!
What is even crazier is that we are over halfway finished with our training days, 57% completed (64/112 days), but not even halfway though our total mileage, only 46% (194/420.2 miles) completed. Insanity!
Our run this weekend was actually a really good one (last weekend’s 14 miles was pretty rough), but my foot didn’t think so after we were finished. I spent the rest of the weekend watching basketball and icing my poor metatarsals…hopefully there isn’t a stress fracture brewing in there. It hurts!
#2: Prize delivery!
Just as we were leaving for our run, I noticed that I had a package at the front door. I love front door deliveries!
I had totally forgotten that my prize delivery from the Tropical Foods blog contest was on its way. Just knowing that I placed 3rd in my first foodie contest was enough for me, but then, receiving this food basket put me over the top. It was so exciting!
Initially I thought the prize was just a sampler of the three types of dipping chocolates, but upon opening the box I was way wrong! It was a basket full of not only the dipping chocolates (milk, dark and white), but also dried fruit (apricots, pineapple and cranberries) and nuts (walnuts, pecans and almonds) from The Nut House.
I am so excited to try out all of the goodies and can’t wait to make some delicious chocolate bark. Thanks Tropical Foods!
#3: Ice Cream Sunday!
Mint cookie crunch ice cream cone. ‘Nuff said.
We are back in the grind this week with Mike’s soccer playoffs, more weekday running and another 16 miler this weekend. We may even fit a date night in midweek to use some PF Chang’s gift cards we’ve been saving and buy some new running shoes. It doesn’t sound like much, but that is pretty exciting right about now!
Here’s our menu plan-
M: Egg Salad Sandwiches
T: PF Chang’s
W: BBQ Chicken Sandwiches w/ Potato Salad
Th: Meatloaf w/ Wild Rice and Broccoli
F*: Hash Brown Egg Bake w/ Fresh Fruit and Whole Wheat Toast
Sa: Chili Casserole Bake
Su: Sweet and Spicy Wings w/ Pesto Pasta Salad
*meatless
Have a great week!
