We got married all over again last night. Not really, but it sure felt like it!
We were helping our friend John, founder of the Winter Park Harvest Festival, set up the tent lights for the second annual Farm to Table Dinner happening tonight at Mead Botanical Gardens. The dinner is a unique event, situated beside a picturesque lake, where many local chefs get together and by using local ingredients, prepare a feast to celebrate the local farmers and growers in central Florida and surrounding areas.
Mike and I were the light crew last night and will be part of the decorating crew today.
We are in no way lighting specialists, like Mike’s brother Matt and his dad - both electricians, but we have gotten pretty good at hanging them over the last year.
Our Christmas lights, that I have had for seven or eight years, are white globe lights. When we decided to have an outdoor wedding last year under a big tent, I knew right away that I wanted to use the globe lights as the lighting. They set the rustic yet classy feel perfectly and best of all, they were already ours which was a big money saver!
When John and his wife Kamrin, my maid of honor, saw the tent they immediately thought of the Harvest Festival, which was two weeks later, and asked if they could use our lights and other decorations which included mason jars, pumpkins and burlap for the Farm to Table Dinner. It was a win-win. They had prefabricated decorations and we didn’t have to find a place to throw away close to 100 pumpkins. Score!
Seeing the globe lights hanging in the tent and the pumpkins ready to be scattered about brought back the best memories from our special day and are setting the scene for a wonderful night tonight. Have a great Saturday!
