I love to chop things. Slicing and dicing is one of my favorite parts of cooking. I love the process of prepping the food, it is a bit therapeutic for me. That is one of the reasons that I never thought owning a mandoline was necessary. Wrong!
A mandoline is a French cooking utensil, not to be confused with the musical mandolin, and comes in a variety of sizes. It is used mainly for uniformly slicing food items, most often vegetables.
I purchased a hand-held mandoline a few weeks ago and am in love with it. Mine is an inexpensive version, but does everything I need it to do. It was around $18, but the professional versions can range upwards of $300. No thank you.
My slicer extraordinaire was worth every penny and I have used countless times already (pickles, onions, carrots to name a few). It also comes with a hand guard so you don’t nick your fingers, good call.
This is also a great gift to consider this holiday season for any of those foodie friends you know that love to cook. You can tell them the Grocery Lane Consumer Review gives it 5 stars!
