Exploring Dora

This past weekend, while on our anniversary get-a-way we decided to take in the sights and sounds of Mt. Dora as if we were true out of towners.  By taking in suggestions of the locals, and reading reviews on Trip Advisor, we devised our own version of a “Food and Wine Festival meets Pub Crawl”.

Anniversary1

We started off the evening with pre-dinner drinks at The Wine Den followed by a beer flight at Mt. Dora Brewing.  We tasted their self brewed beer along with some local beers from the Orlando Brewery.  Not too shabby!

We took in Mt. Dora on foot, walking from place to place, and loved seeing the quaintness of the town that way.  Everything was very close and accessible.  Love that!

We ate dinner at Oudom Thai Sushi Restaurant and feasted on Chicken Pad Thai, Spicy Tuna and Spider Rolls followed by after dinner drinks for the big game (LSU/Alabama – yawn) at McGregor’s Bar.

The next day, Cody’s on 4th was a clean and simple sandwich shop that met our mid-day hunger needs.  Mike tried the tri-salad plate and I opted for the turkey and swiss on wheat with extra pickles.  Thankfully, the cafĂ© also had great desserts.

We were in search of carrot cake all morning since the top of our wedding cake, which was a carrot cake, is at my mom’s and we won’t get to do the traditional tasting of the top layer until next weekend.

Luckily, Cody’s served a delicious carrot cake that would tide us over for the time being.

We demolished it as soon as it made it to the table and toasted to many more years of wedded bliss.  It was almost as good as our wedding cake, and definitely took us back to that night!

Here’s to a great weekend!
