This past weekend we spent some relaxing time with my family in Northeast Florida. My mom loves her little piece of heaven on the St. John’s River and brags that it is the true meaning of “Old Florida”.
She built her river cottage on family land and lives between my Aunt and Uncle and my Nana. We call it our “family compound” and love to go up to escape from the hustle and bustle.
Since it is the month of Thanksgiving, here are some things I am thankful for each and every time we visit family:
The sound of tires on gravel.
Listening to Nana tell stories. She grew up on the same land and she and Pop raised my mom and her 3 sisters there.
Yelling good morning from porch to porch.
Watching the sailboats on the river.
Spanish moss blowing in the breeze.
Home cooked meals and family dinner with the locals.
Big green tractors.
Hurley the wonder dog.
And most of all…laughing with family.
Hope you had a great weekend, we sure did!
